PROXY TUTORIAL 1. IMPORT FOOTAGE w/ MEDIA BROWSER • In order for this proxy workflow to work, you must import your footage into Premiere Pro using the MEDIA BROWSER panel in the PROJECT WINDOW. • Find your raw footage in the MEDIA BROWSER• Highlight all your clips • Right click (cntrl + click) the highlighted media and select IMPORT. 2. CREATE PROXIES • Highlight your imported raw footage in the PROJECT PANEL • Right click (ctrl + click) • Select PROXIES • Select CREATE PROXIES 3. CHOOSE SETTINGS • Under the FORMAT drop-down menu, select QUICKTIME• Under the PRESET drop-down menu, select: 1024x540 Prores 422 Proxy• Under the DESTINATION option, select "Next to Original Media, in Proxy Folder". 4. WAIT • Adobe Media Encoder will open automatically.**Adobe Media Encoder must be installed on your computer!** 5. LET ALL YOUR PROXIES TRANSCODE • Once opened, Adobe Media Encoder will automatically transcode the video files you selected.• The software will let you know when the transcoding is done.** New video files will be added to the raw footage folder in Finder. You don't have to do anything with it - just know that it's there. 6. SET SEQUENCE + ADD "TOGGLE PROXY" BUTTON • Back in Premiere Pro, create a new sequence by dragging & dropping one clip of RAW FOOTAGE into the TIMELINE WINDOW.This will ensure your sequence matches the S.C.A.R.F. settings of your raw footage. • In the CANVAS WINDOW, click the "+" button to customize the tool bar. 7. SET SEQUENCE + ADD "TOGGLE PROXY" BUTTON • Select the TOGGLE PROXY button from the customization menu.• DRAG the button onto the CANVAS WINDOW tool bar• Click "OK" to close the customization menu 8. TOGGLE PROXIES ON/OFF • You're done!• Click the TOGGLE PROXY button ON (it will turn blue)• Notice how the footage in your CANVAS WINDOW changes slightly. The aspect ratio will "squish" the footage slightly, leaving two black bars on either side of the footage. This is how you know you're viewing proxy footage. • Edit your project using the proxy footage for clean and smooth playback in Premiere Pro. • When you're ready to export, turn the TOGGLE PROXY button OFF. This will switch all the footage in your timeline to FULL RESOLUTION.
